The storm was real
Charles, Eleanor and Charlotte are invented. Hurricane Hazel, Southport and Battery Island are not. Follow the storm from its first day to landfall.
Book 1 begins in the summer of 1954 and builds to the morning of 15 October. What happens in the storm is the secret at the centre of the trilogy.
Storm surge is the water Hazel pushed ashore on top of the normal tide. A one-story cottage, roughly 15 feet to its peak, is drawn for scale (approximate).
